Innovation Network Awards 2008

Some of the most exciting and successful examples of business co-working with Cardiff University were honoured during the prestigious Innovation Network Awards Dinner held at the University in May 2008. The Cardiff University Innovation Awards, now in their ninth year, are an opportunity to celebrate the links and successful collaborations forged between the University and industry.

This exciting collaboration has led to the development of a drug targeted specifically to treat shingles. If it successful passes through the last stage of trials, this drug has the capacity to improve the lives of the 2.5 million people worldwide who are afflicted by this debilitating condition each year.

TerraDat (UK) Ltd and the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences Geoenvironmental Research Group

TerraDat (UK) Ltd and the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences Geoenvironmental Research Group

By applying novel techniques and lateral thinking, this innovative project has resulted in a cost effective, rapid response system to assess landslide risks.

Atkins Middle East and the Welsh School of Architecture

Atkins Middle East and the Welsh School of Architecture

A challenging project based in Dubai which used cutting-edge techniques to design a 65 storey, iconic building providing world-class facilities while reducing normal energy consumption of such a structure by 60% and water consumption by 35%.
