Innovation Network

Coed Cymru

This successful collaboration between the University and Coed Cymru  is helping to produce low carbon affordable housing using homegrown Welsh softwood.

The project – Ty Unnos – ‘A house in one night’ –  saw the University’s Welsh School of Architecture and Coed Cymru work in partnership to help produce low carbon, affordable housing using homegrown Welsh softwood which could offer house builders an alternative to imported timber for sustainable housing.
Innovation Prize 2009 Coed Cymru Directors

In 2009 this collaboration won the Innovation Prize.

Further funding has since been secured, allowing the team to continue applied research with the aim of developing the system for mass market production.
