A networking event giving companies the opportunity to promote their innovative technologies, products and ideas was staged at Cardiff University.More than 150 people attended the sixth annual Innovation Marketplace, organised by Cardiff University Innovation Network.
The event, enabled businesses to find out about new products and innovations that could enhance their company’s performance.
A number of confidential meetings took place between companies and potential collaborators – a service which has proved highly productive for participants in previous years. These promising leads have enabled businesses in Wales to work collectively so that they can compete on a worldwide level. In the exhibition area, businesses were able to reap the benefits of having over 30 business support organisations under one roof and see examples of the latest technologies from both industry and Cardiff University.
The area also provided a networking forum for different companies from different sectors to interact and discuss possible partnerships and collaborations. Attendees were given an opportunity to take part in a series of presentations on topics such as Managing Stress in Business, Leadership and looking at the future of IT.
Also at the marketplace the Vice Chancellor of Cardiff University Dr David Grant presented awards to several companies to mark their commercial and technological progress which has resulted from industry-university collaboration. Legal and General were celebrated for their work with the School of Psychology, Law and Centre for Lifelong learning who helped to develop a course, the first of its kind in the UK, which has filled a gap in the medical underwriting market. Significantly, it has been instrumental in developing a change in how training is undertaken within Legal and General.
