"Entrepreneurs are not born, they are made. Entrepreneurship is a skill that can be taught just like any other. That’s why Global Entrepreneurship Week is so vital right now. To inspire thousands of people to pursue their ideas, to create jobs and to build global ambition among young people and business owners alike.”
Peter Jones, entrepreneur and Enterprise UK Chair.
In 2009 there were over 32,000 events in 88 countries (4,812 in the UK), attended by more than 7.5m people (over 529,000 people in the UK).
Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is a worldwide movement of entrepreneurial people and an opportunity to showcase and celebrate all the work that goes on year-round.
Activities range from enterprise competitions - including the school Education Challenge - to talks from local role models to large scale conferences.
Global Entrepreneurship Week was esatblished by
Enterprise United Kingdom and the
Kauffman Foundation and is run by Enterprise UK.
Enterprise UK was founded by the four leading UK business membership organisations – the British Chambers of Commerce, the CBI, the Federation of Small Businesses and the Institute of Directors. Their Director Generals sit on Enterprise UK’s board, which is chaired by entrepreneur Peter Jones. They are also supported by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
If you would like to attend an event, or organise an event during Global Entrepreneurship Week then visit the GEW website.
