15th March: Neuroscience Open Afternoon

The Cardiff Neurosciences Centre and School of Biosciences are hosting a Neuroscience Open Afternoon at Cardiff University on Monday 15th March, from 1.30-4.30pm.
This event is being held to promote Brain Awareness Week - a global campaign that seeks to increase awareness of brain research and progress towards treatment of brain related illnesses.

The 15th March event will highlight neuroscience research taking place within Cardiff University.

Programme of Events
Speakers
• 2.00pm - Professor Frank Sengpiel – Welcome by the Chair of Cardiff Neurosciences Centre
• 2.05pm - Professor Julie Williams – New insights into the causes of Alzheimer's disease
• 2.15pm - Professor Nick Craddock – Genes, molecules and mental illness.
• 2.25pm - Professor Adrian Harwood – Cells, molecules and drug development
• 2.35pm - Professor Anne Rosser - Novel treatments for Huntington's and Parkinson's diseases
• 2.45pm – Professor Derek Jones - What can we see with brain imaging techniques?
• 2.55pm - Dr Jon Erichsen - Progress in visual neuroscience research.

There will also be seven research demonstrations on display; providing the opportunity to chat with neuroscience researchers on a range of subjects, from non-invasive brain scanning to Bipolar disorder.
