9th November: Steel in Automotive - Opportunities in a Low Carbon Economy
Friday 29 October 2010
This free event is organised by NDMS - Newport & District Materials Society and the speaker is Prof Jon King of Warwick University.
"The talk will cover the challenges facing the steel industry in the automotive sector over the next ten years from the perspective of the work carried out by the world steel association's Future Steel Vehicle (FSV) project.
"The FSV project builds on the ULSAB series of collaborative projects to develop and promote steel materials and technologies that keep steel in pole position as we transition to a low carbon economy. Although we are gripped by the recession and the resulting slow recovery, steel remains well placed in the automotive sector - over 99% of all new vehicles built last year had steel intensive body structures and FSV is there to help keep it that way."
This is not an Innovation Network event.
This event is organised by NDMS* and being held at Cardiff University's Engineering Department on Tuesday 9th November, from 5.30pm, with buffet and networking after the presentation.
