Cardiff Ambassadors to Promote Capital Opportunities

Wednesday 25 March 2009
The Cardiff Ambassadors Programme will see Ambassadors for the capital city take the Cardiff story to the world as part of a drive to position the city as the number one choice for investors and conference organisers.
The Programme has been developed by Cardiff & Co – the public/private partnership tasked with promoting the capital city - in partnership with the city-region’s three universities – Cardiff University, UWIC and the University of Glamorgan.

At the launch, high profile speakers from the world of business, academia, sport and entertainment explained why they are proud to be Ambassadors for Wales’ capital city.

The event was chaired by Noreen Bray, one of Cardiff & Co’s board members and attended by Henry Engelhardt, (Admiral Group C.E.O.), Rodney Berman (Leader of Cardiff Council), Professor Sir Martin Evans (the Nobel Prize winner), Professor Ken Woodhouse (Pro Vice Chancellor at Cardiff University), Ieuan Evans (Lions rugby legend) and members of Only Men Aloud.

Noreen Bray, Chair, commented that “Cardiff now has a platform to compete with the very best and our Ambassadors can help position us as the destination of choice for business investors, conferences and events.  Cardiff’s Ambassadors may stem from very different backgrounds, from Only Men Aloud to Henry Engelhardt but they all share a common aim - a passion for the city and the desire to see it thrive.  They will seek to use their influence and connections to promote the city region.”
