New Collaborative Initiative for Researchers - Apply by 24th February

Monday 03 January 2011
Welsh Crucible is a programme of personal, professional and leadership development for highly promising research leaders of the future who are building their careers in Wales.
This new initiative will bring together bright thinkers from different academic disciplines and industries across Wales to find solutions to some of today’s complex research challenges.

Welsh Crucible is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales with involvement from across the St David’s Day group of higher education institutions.  The programme is led by Cardiff University in partnership with the universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor, Glamorgan and Swansea.

The 2011 Welsh Crucible will take place over three two-day intensive workshops (called ‘labs’).

Participants are required to commit to attending all three labs as a condition of receiving a place on the Welsh Crucible programme, with the three labs being held in Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Swansea, from May-July 2011.

Applications are invited from researchers working in Welsh SME's / Spin-outs in the Assembly priority areas (Digital Economy, Low Carbon Economy, Health & Biosciences and Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing) to take part in this event for free.

Apply by 24/02/2011.
